i.Scrap

Not to be weird, but I've kind of got a thing for Stacy Julian

Ever since I read her book Photo Freedom way back when (and blogged about it here) I scrap differently. Less chronologically, and more inspirationally. Granted, it's been a while since I did any actual scrapbooking, but the lessons still apply and I use them with my blog quite a bit. (Not to distract from my main point, but holy cow, I just checked Amazon's price on that book and they are selling it for $98?! I love that book but seriously... that's a lot. I'm glad I still have mine)

Anywho, the whole point of this post is that I'm excited to be taking a two-week class with Stacy at Big Picture Scrapbooking, starting today!

The concept is simple and we're only doing a 10-page album, which is one of the reasons I decided to go for it, but I'm excited to see what the final product turns out to be. I'm hoping it helps me look at the bigger lessons I learned in 2010 and capture them in words.

This is the class description:

Psychologists love i.statements. This is because when you start a sentence with an "I" you can learn to own your thoughts, your feelings and ultimately your story. Scrapbookers love photographs. This is because a picture is worth a thousand words and can colorfully capture the people, places and things they experience, love and learn from.
So, what happens when you pair nine i.statements with nine photos from the past year? You unleash the powerful psychology wrapped up in scrapbooking. In other words, your most recent memories unfold in a remarkable way to show you how your thoughts and feelings contribute to your current perspective and ultimately to your story.
You are invited to join Stacy Julian, founder of online education here at Big Picture Classes in this lively two-week workshop that promises a reflective and rewarding journey through 2010 and results in a totally unique 8" x 8" album.

Stacy recommends making a traditional scrapbook, but I will most likely make mine digitally and print it with Shutterfly or something.

The class costs $14 and it's not too late to sign up (you can join the class up until March 9th). If you want to join me on this little adventure, you can sign up here. When you do (yay!) and if you wouldn't mind, please tell them I referred you by entering this refer-a-friend code on checkout F16DCA98

That way we both get 10% off the next class we take from Big Picture~ nice!

I will share my pages when the class is over. Stay tuned!

  1. oh, how FUN! wish i could join you!

i've been in a bit of a scrapping rut, myself....i've at least ordered the final batch of prints to finish up eli's hand made album.

i DID, however, finish one shutterfly album for Owen's 3rd year, and began age 4!! It's not as personalized as i'd eventually like to get with a photoshop program yet, but in time...i just want to get caught up!! :)

  2. I wish you could take the class with me too! All the Photoshop knowledge in the world doesn't help if you don't use it though, so you are actually way ahead of me. I would *LOVE* to have an entire Shutterfly book done. I've also been in such a rut, doing a random page here or there but never accomplishing much. I'd really like to make a dent in the thousands of pics I have on my computer. So proud of you for getting an entire year done for Owen! I'm hoping this class gets me moving in the right direction.
