What's Cookin' Good Lookin'

Jarrod came home tonight and took one look at the pita dough I was rolling out and said "You're not doin' something crazy again are you?" Nope, nothin' crazy. Relax, buckeroo, you'll get your dinner. These are for tomorrow.

But I have been cooking a lot lately, and maybe acting a little crazy when I try to take on too much. Trying out new recipes, learning new things, and not always being successful. But that's a post in itself, to be named "Mayonnaise, My Nemesis."

Have you been to the Tasty Kitchen Blog yet? Deliciousness abounds over there, with pictures guaranteed to trigger your Pavlov response.

Some of the recipes I've tried in the last two weeks:

with a side of Mexican Rice

Maple Bacon Pancakes ~ for dinner

Best Frosting Ever for Rowan's birthday cupcakes

No picture, but this was exellent-ay! It's like faux lasagna.

Don't be jealous, but I got a hands-on tutorial from Ms. Heather herself. Look for it in a future episode of Adventures in Homemaking. This bread went super awesome with the

Raspberry Freezer Jam
made from raspberries I picked with the boys last week.

The recipe above for the shredded beef called for using the meat to make burritos, but I chose to make quesadillas so that I could shout "Hey Jarrod, come get yourself a dang case-a-dilla." Napoleon Dynamite's my homeboy. My kids really liked these.

We've also been eating a lot of this.

I like to chunk it up with some cantaloupe and keep it in the fridge ready to eat.
I have one kid who only eats the cantaloupe.

And one who only eats the watermelon.

One who eats them both.

And one who won't eat either.

I guess it all evens out in the end.

So those are a few of the things I've been experimenting with lately. I stumbled upon two other really awesome foodie blogs this week that I can't wait to spend some time going through.

This chick's hilarious and the recipes look insanely good.

Love that they feature so many basic techniques, like how to freeze berries. That's the stuff I had to learn by trial and error because no one ever taught me.

Have you tried any stellar new online recipes lately? Link 'em up, baby, and share the wealth!

  1. Those photos look awesome (and the food isn't bad looking either;). I love the "come get yourself a dang case-a-dilla" cause we say that too out here in Athol!
