July at My Kits and Pieces!

July's kits from My Kits and Pieces are just flat-out gorgeous. I've had a blast playing with them this past week, and here are a few of the pages I've done with the Bask kit.

This is one for Mr. Rowan and his many nicknames. The Basic Grey buttons are just awesome because you get such a nice variety of sizes in each color, and they're really beautiful colors too.

This one was a little outside my normal style, but I was pleased with the results. I started with a sketch from Pagemaps and then tweaked it a bit. I am loving these FancyPants clear cuts. I've never worked with them before and they add such a fun little touch without taking anything away from the photos.

Using up my scraps, I made this sort of mosaic frame border. This is a page about my mom and some of the things that she has overcome this past year.... past seven years if you want to get technical, which is when my dad had his stroke. I carefully chose the phrases from the Grow sticker sheet. Each one represents something that my mom has demonstrated for me and she really personifies the journaling card that says "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." She changed her family tree and gave my sister, brother and me something that she never had. I'm truly grateful for that.

I have some more journaling that I want to do about what I've learned from my mom this year, but that is personal and just for me. So I made the photo mat into a hidden journaling spot. It's not fancy or anything (just a scrap of cardstock to make a hinge) but it will serve the purpose.

I have one more page to come, and I'll try to get that posted before the weekend is over.
